Departmental Information and Courses
Dr. Heekin joined the Religious Studies Department in September 2011 as Visiting Assistant Professor. She
has been teaching the core course required of all students: RST 101 Religion in the Contemporary World. Dr. Heekin
has participated in the Week of the Peacemaker, mentoring a panel of social work majors to present on their work,
and presenting her own work in justice advocacy for day laborers. She has offered a day of reflection for the professional
staff of the Office of Mission and Ministry as well as being a faculty leader in the 2012 Faithful Citizenship Series.
Dr. Heekin is also working with faculty and students to start a student-led Religious Studies Club and she assists
with the programs of the Driscoll Professorship in Jewish-Catholic Studies.
Professional Interests
Dr. Heekin researches in the areas of American religious education, Jewish-Christian Studies, and social justice ministries.
