The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
CSWE is a national association that preserves and enhances the quality of social work education for practice that promotes the goals of individual and community well-being and social justice. CSWE pursues this mission by setting and maintaining policy and program standards, accrediting bachelor's and master's degree programs in social work, promoting research and faculty development, and advocating for social work education.

National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest organization of professional social workers in the world. NASW serves 150,000 social workers in 56 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and abroad. NASW was formed in 1955 through a merger of seven predecessor social work organizations to carry out three responsibilities:

  • strengthen and unify the profession
  • promote the development of social work practice
  • advance sound social policies

National Association of Social Workers New York State (NASW/NYS)
NASW/NYS is one of NASW’s 56 chapters. The NYS chapter encompasses all New York except the five boroughs of New York City. It has over 12,000 members. The New York State chapter (along with the New York City chapter) carries out the mission and goals of NASW in New York State.

International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW)
The IFSW is a global organization striving for social justice, human rights and social development through the development of social work best practices and international cooperation between social workers and their professional organizations.
