Kappa Tau Chapter
"Through knowledge, the challenge to serve..."
The Iona College Department of Social Work established a local chapter (Kappa Tau) of the Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society in 2002. The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Spciety is to provide a closer bond among syudents of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Students inducted into the Kappa Tau chapter of the Phi Alpha are recognized for scholastic achievement in pursuit of their baccalaureate degree in social work. Eligibility criteria include a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and a GPA of 3.5 in the social work major. To date, Kappa Tau has inducted fifteen students into its chapter.

The Iona College Center for Social Research is a multi-disciplinary institute established by the Departments of Social Work and Sociology.
