Welcome to the Social Work Department

• Founded by Dr. Ron Federico (co-author of the blueprint for baccalaureate social work education) the program maintains his original ideals of academic excellence in the professional preparation of its students and to utilizing a student-centered approach to foster success for each of its majors.  
• Because our goal is to prepare students for professional practice, we are committed to keeping pace with current trends in the field, and to integrating that practice wisdom into classroom.  For instance, given the rapidly increasing size of our senior population, the program has taken efforts to infuse gerontology-related content into its courses so that students will be prepared to address the service and support needs of older people.  These efforts recently earned the program national designation as a Gero-Enriched Curriculum.
