Dr. Salamone is a cultural anthropologist with interest in ethnicity, African and Afro-American culture, religion, fieldwork techniques, and ethics. He belongs to a number of professional organizations including the American Anthropological Association, the African Studies Association, the Popular Culture Association, and the American Ethnological Association. He has held administrative positions in these and other professional organizations. He has written a number of books and articles including The Italians of Rochester, NY: 1900-140”, “The Italians of Rochester, NY: 1940-1960”, “The Hausa of Nigeria”, and “The Culture of Jazz: Jazz as Critical Culture.”
