The Women's Studies Program, in cooperation with the various academic disciplines of the School of Arts and Science, supports the mission of Iona College through its commitment to the values of academic excellence, social justice and service. It seeks to provide quality instruction that leads to introspection, critical analysis, and opportunities for male and female members of the college community to:

1. Contribute to feminist scholarship through research or creative work that raises new and critical questions about gender and power, and furthers the understanding of the status of women in society
2. Provide a venue for a diverse college community to consider the unique perspectives of women and value feminist thought and influences in daily life
   
3. Promote social justice for women through the practical application of theory
   
4. Develop proactive responses to the differential impact of gender-based bias in the lives of women from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
   

These goals will be achieved by drawing upon the collective resources of Iona College's academic departments and support services, as well as the larger metropolitan area.
