Computer Science

» Assistant Professor

The Computer Science department at Iona College seeks applicants for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor starting Fall 2012. By the beginning of employment, candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline. The successful candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching and scholarly activity and the potential for directing student research in a liberal arts environment. The department's programs include an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Computer Science. Candidates specializing in all areas of Computer Science are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including department core and specialty areas based on the candidates' expertise and research interests.

Criminal Justice

» Assistant Professor

Iona College's Criminal Justice Department has growing and thriving undergraduate and graduate programs with special areas including: security threat assessment and forensic criminology, law enforcement & security, corrections & community-based corrections and community/restorative justice courses.

We are currently seeking candidates for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor to begin August 2012.  Qualified applicants will have a  doctorate in criminal justice or criminology. Candidate should have substantial college level teaching experience and enjoy collaborative initiatives.  Preferred qualifications include: graduate teaching experience, practical expertise in the field, research and scholarly writings/research.  Competitive ABD applicants will be considered if receipt of degree is on or before August 20th, 2012.  Preferred candidates will provide evidence of potential for effective teaching, research initiatives/agenda and scholarly engagements.  Faculty members are expected to teach four (4) classes each semester and are expected to pursue an active research agenda [grants & publications] as well as meeting college service obligations [department, campus-wide, and community].

Foreign Languages Department

» Assistant Professor of Spanish

Faculty Opening
The Foreign Languages Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in Spanish Language, Literature and Cultural Studies beginning August 2012. Area of specialization: Latin American with an emphasis in Cultural Studies. Preference will be given to areas of specialization including Latin American literature and Cultural Studies, with knowledge in theory, Postcolonial and Transatlantic Studies. Knowledge of early Pre-Columbian and Colonial literatures is a plus. Some experience with study abroad programs is helpful. Ability to teach upper level classes in French Languages and Literatures with a graduate diploma in this language is desired.

Responsibilities for the position: four classes per semester in Spanish or French, according to the needs of the Department, as well as some departmental work and scholarship directed towards the subject matter of the applicant's teaching assignment.

Requirements for the position: Ph.D. in hand preferred; native or equivalent fluency in Spanish, French and English; ability to teach Spanish and French language, literature and culture courses at all levels, including graduate; strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, willingness to engage students and colleagues, and a commitment to scholarly activity.

» Assistant Professor for Industrial-Organizational Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Iona College is seeking qualified candidates to apply for a tenure track Assistant Professor appointment to begin Fall 2012. The successful candidate will hold the Ph.D. (ABD candidates will be considered) in industrial-organizational psychology or a closely related field. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate level industrial-organizational psychology courses, and other courses that satisfy departmental needs; and providing departmental, college, and community service.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, a commitment to students, and a record of scholarly productivity. » Assistant Professor for School Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Iona College is seeking qualified candidates to fill a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin in the Fall 2012 semester. The hire will be core faculty in the NASP-accredited School Psychology M.A. program. Responsibilities may include coordinating internship placements and teaching school psychology courses that match the successful candidate's interests and skills and departmental needs; maintaining an active line of research; and providing departmental, college, and community service. Teaching assignments may include intellectual and educational assessment, personality assessment, Behavioral assessment, and research methods courses.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-approved program in School Psychology and have New York State Permanent Certification as a school psychologist. Preference is for an applicant who is also licensed or license-eligible in New York. The successful applicant must have academic experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of teaching, research, and service.

» Adjunct Faculty

The Iona College Psychology Department invites applications for adjunct teaching positions for the Winter 2011 trimester and Spring 2012 semester. There are openings to teach at the undergraduate level during the day and graduate level in the evening. Classes meet two or three times per week.

Speech Communication Studies Department

» Part-Time Audiologist

The Department of Speech Communication Studies and the Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic seeks a part- time audiologist for their very busy campus speech clinic. Responsibilities will include hearing evaluations and allowing students to observe.  Referrals from on and off campus are possible.  Clinical experience with both children and adults is necessary, as well as, effective communication.

The ideal candidate will have at least a Masters degree with at least 5 years clinical experience and NYS licensure with an ability to report directly to the speech clinic supervisor. The candidate must be comfortable having students observe, since consulting with students is a necessary requirement of this job.
