Criminal Justice Department

»Assistant Professor

Iona College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in criminal justice to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor for the 2010-2011 academic year

Qualified applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, the ability to develop and maintain an active program of research and a commitment to the participation in university and community service, along with student advising. Preference will be given to those with an ability to teach research methods at the undergraduate level and a desire to collaborate and assume leadership responsibilities in the department.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology. The JD alone is not an appropriate degree for this position.

Applicants who are ABD may be considered if the doctorate is expected before employment begins in August, 2010.

Economics Department

»Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Economics of Iona College invites applicants for a visiting one-year appointment at the assistant professor level for the 2010/11 academic year, with the possibility of a continuing appointment. Applicants should have completed a PhD degree in economics, and exhibit a publication record in refereed journals. Teaching and research interests can be in any field, with heightened consideration given to candidates with areas of specialization in financial economics, macroeconomics, and money and banking.

Mass Communication Department

»Assistant Professor

The Department of Mass Communication at Iona College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. The starting date for this position is August 2010. The Department of Mass Communication is an ACEJMC accredited program with approximately 350 undergraduate majors and 50 students in the graduate program. The undergraduate program has four concentrations: Advertising, TV/Video, Journalism, and Public Relations.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in public relations and general mass communication, as well as courses in the graduate program in public relations. The program includes such courses as: Introduction to Mass Communication, Public Relations Case Studies, Writing for Public Relations, and Public Opinion Dynamics. The successful candidate will also advise department majors and mentor department clubs.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned PhD in a mass communication related field
  • Prior university teaching experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience
  • Ability to work with outside agencies/community organizations in curricular activities.

Psychology Department

»Assistant Professor

The Department of Psychology at Iona College seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach beginning in the Fall 2010 semester. Responsibilities include teaching clinical and health psychology courses that match the successful candidate's interests and skills and departmental needs; maintaining an active line of research; and providing departmental, college, and community service. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an APA-approved program in clinical or health psychology, or closely related field; be licensed or license-eligible in New York; and have academic experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of teaching, research, and service.

Science and Technological Literacy Program

»Adjunct Faculty

The Science and Technological Literacy Program at Iona College invites applications for adjunct teaching positions for fall, winter session, spring and summer terms. Applicants should currently hold an MS or PhD in one of the natural sciences or science education; have experience in teaching general education students, preferably at the college level; be versatile in teaching science from an integrated approach; work well with students who may have a low comfort level with science; possess excellent verbal communication skills; be technologically literate; and share Iona's commitment to the importance of developing scientifically literate citizens.

Speech Communication Studies Department

»Speech and Language Hearing Clinic-Part-time-Assistant Clinician

The Department of Speech Communication Studies at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY seeks a part-time Assistant Clinician beginning in the Fall of 2010. Duties include supervision of undergraduate speech-language pathology students including diagnostic and treatment services for a varied caseload.  The successful candidate will ensure that all clinic policies and procedures are being adhered to for optimum assessment and treatment of patients.

Qualified candidates must have at least 3 years experience as a Speech Language Pathologist working with children and/or adults.  Supervisory experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates must hold a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology, be ASHA certified, hold a New York State license and be TSHH or TSSLD certified.  This position reports directly to the Clinic Supervisor.

The Speech and Language Hearing clinic at Iona College is located in the School of Arts and Sciences and enjoys close ties with other departments, with the community, and with schools and hospitals in the area.  The clinic has recently moved to a newly renovated facility and our client base is expanding rapidly.

»Assistant Professor in Speech and Language Pathology

The Department of Speech Communication Studies at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology for its undergraduate and newly developing graduate programs. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Speech and Language Pathology by August, 2010. The candidate should be familiar with ASHA guidelines and must have strong clinical skills. A strong commitment to teaching, research, and service is required. The successful candidate will be required to teach, advise, conduct research, and provide service to the department and to the college community. The department is seeking a specialist in areas of speech disorders such as fluency disorders, neurogenic speech disorders, school based speech and language pathology, autism, or medical speech pathology.
