All new full-time faculty hires will be made at the minimum rank of Assistant Professor following the procedure outlined below. For appointment at this rank candidates must posses, at the time of appointment, an earned doctoral degree or the accepted equivalent terminal degree in the field in which they will be teaching. Those with at least four years of full-time college-level teaching experience at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and with significant scholarly achievement, may be considered for appointment at a higher rank. Ordinarily, tenure will not be transferred into the College. When there is an immediate need for full-time faculty within a department or program but uncertainty as to the longer-term needs, a limited of full-time faculty may be hired on renewable term contracts for a period not to exceed three years in total.
Part-time (Adjunct) faculty will be appointed at the rank of Adjunct Instructor. For appointment at the rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor, candidates must posses, at the time of appointment, an earned doctoral degree or the accepted equivalent terminal degree in the field in which they will be teaching. Those with at least five years of college-level teaching experience at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and with significant scholarly or professional achievement, may be considered for appointment at a higher rank. Candidates not possessing the appropriate terminal qualifications will be hired at the rank of Adjunct Instructor.
