Student/Alum Notes


A manuscript by four of our Chemistry students has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Colloid & Interface Science. It is titled "Sensitivity of Cationic Surfactant Templates to Specific Anions in Liquid Interface Crystallization". The students are Kiersten Giusto ('12), Catherine Morris ('12), Paul Sanstead ('11), Nick Florio ('11). Corresponding Author is Dr. Sunghee Lee. It will appear in print in the near future.


Dorothy Leone will be presenting with 7 Iona SCS students on April 26th at the annual New York State Speech Language Hearing Association convention in Saratoga Springs NY. They are presenting our work from our Normal Acquisition of Speech and Language class (SCS361) - they have been meeting regularly since the class ended and have collected and analyzed data from 10 children. The group has worked very hard and is excited to present their findings!


Inspired by an elective course that they took in iPhone/iPad applications development, two talented and enterprising undergraduate students majoring in computer science at Iona College have taken their idea for a new music app to the marketplace. For the fourth-consecutive year, the Iona College Mock Trial (ICMT) team has successfully qualified for a bid to the national championship. This past weekend, ICMT competed in the regional-qualifying tournament at Yale University and became one of the top eight teams in the 30 team regional field to receive bids to the opening rounds of the national championship to be held in Minnesota.



Connor Buckley, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science a couple of years ago, developed an Android app that allows the users to record their "sleep-talk". Here's the website for his app: http://www.apkbrain.com/apps/DreamCatcher-Pro-48155.html.
