Dr. Teresa Delgado, Religious Studies, participated in a strategic planning consultation with the
Fund for Theological Education (Atlanta, GA) in August to help develop a new mentoring/funding strategy for their
doctoral scholarship recipients. On September 17, she has been invited to present a lecture on her current work in
Catholic sexual ethics and meet with a variety of student and faculty groups at Colgate University, her alma mater.
Dr. Jennifer Bacon, Education, was the Writing Session Facilitator for UMBC PROMISE Summer Success Institute. Her role was to work with faculty and alumni completing writing projects (such as books and articles) for publication.
She was also invited to the conference to complete her interviews and research for her book "Sisters in the Dissertation House" which she was commissioned to write by PROMISE.
Thomas Donnarumma, Fine & Peforming Arts, taught course "Theatre in The Golden Age of The Spanish Renaissance" in Barcelona, Spain over the summer.
He was a Panel Discussant for Playing to the Assessment Crowd: Assessment in the Theatre Program from Course to Curriculum at The Association of Theatre in Higher Education conference in Washington, D.C. in August.
He directed "Much Ado About Nothing" by William Shakespeare at The Usdan Center for The Creative and Performing Arts in August.
Dr. Greg Selitto, Office of the Dean and Professor of Mathematics, participated in a service trip to Guatemala in June. As a math consultant, he traveled to Santa Avelina (small village 10 miles north of Guatemala city) in support of a bilingual immersion school (PreK-6). The team of educators worked closely for a week with village teachers and their students to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Dr. Alison Behrman, Speech Communication, presented "The Influence of Semantic Context on the Perception of Spanish-Accented American English" with coauthor Dr. A. Akhund, Biostatistician of the Hunter College School of Public Health, at the International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association in Cork, Ireland on June 27, 2012.
Catherine Mapp, Fine & Peforming Arts, attended the Dance Critics Association Conference, DANCE/TALK
Joan Weil Center for Dance, New York City, New York in June.
Dr. Elena Procario-Foley, Religious Studies, is highlighted as a speaker in an upcoming conference from October 11-12 at Georgetown Universuty on "Dialogue and Catholic Identity."
Her talk will be on "Vatican II and the Synagogue's Continuing Importance to the Church."

Dr. Ellen Small and Dr. Jennifer Bacon, Education, presented at the 4th Annual Conference on Education, Economy and Society held in Paris. Their presentation was on the Deactivation of Perceptions of Rance and Gender: The Experiences of African American High School Students.
Patricia Cohen, Fine & Peforming Arts, gave a workshop presented at the daCi/WDA conference in Taipei (dance and the Child international and World Dance Alliance, "Teaching Jazz Dance in Cultural Context".
Dr. George Bournoutian, History, was invited to present 2 lectures for the faculty and doctoral candidates at Sophia University (A Jesuit Institution founded 100 years ago) in Tokyo. His lectures focused on his numerous books dealing with the history of Iran from the 17th through the 19th centuries.
In 2012 Bournoutian was invited to speak on his book on Karabagh in many cities throughout Canada and the United States and has been invited to discuss the same book in Armenia, Karabagh and Paris in September.
Sheila Kriemelman, Fine & Peforming Arts, had her work, "Amarylis", exhibited at The New York Society of Women Artists at the Prince Street Gallery, New York City, New Yorkin July.
Dr. Daniel Thiery, History, presented a paper, "Reformers, Restraint and Religion's Role in the Civilizing Process" at a single day seminar, Cultures of Conflict Resolution in Early Modern Europe, held at and sponsored by Cambridge University [St. John's College].
Ryan Seslow, Fine & Peforming Arts, was Guest Artist for Mural Project HALA – Hillside Arts and Letters Academy, Jamiaca, NY in June. He also had work exhibited at Two Person Exhibit CO-Activate – The 2nd Avenue Firehouse Gallery in Bayshore, NY.
