Dr. Sunghee Lee, chair of the Iona College Chemistry department, was awarded a grant of $250,000 over four years from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This grant will provide funds for a team of Iona College undergraduate students to continue important research on the investigation of the chemistry of crystallization in living systems.
Dr. Vincent Ciardiello, Education, had an article "Is Angel Island the Ellis Island of the West?" published in The Social Studies Journal. It compares conditions on Angel Island and Ellis Island, using the strategy of multiple perspective-taking in teaching immigration history to elementary and middle school students.
Dr. Elena Procario-Foley, Religious Studies, is highlighted as a speaker in an upcoming conference at Georgetown Universuty on "Dialogue and Catholic Identity." Her talk will be on "Vatican II and the Synagogue's Continuing Importance to the Church."
