Recycling Information

Blue Bins for Paper Recycling

Please make sure that your office has sufficient blue bins for paper recycling. Blue recycling bins of various sizes, as well as paper shredders, can be purchased from your office supply catalog. Then download paper recycling "Do's and Dont's flyers (pdf)" from this ECC website and post them on or near the bins. To ensure that your paper is collected separately from trash, it is probably a good idea to empty small desk side blue bins into the nearest large blue or green paper bin at the end of each day.

Cell Phone Recycling

The Marketing Club periodically collects used cell phones which will be refurbished for the “Call to Protect” program or recycled by an environmental organization. Be sure to clear your messages and deactivate your phone service before dropping off your phone (with or without accessories). Look for collection boxes at the Help Desk in Ryan Library, the front desk in Arrigoni Library, and the Student Services office in Hagan Hall. Or send them via interoffice mail to Prof. Rudell, Department of Marketing & Int’l Business/Hagan.

Printer Cartridge Recycling

Used inkjet or laser toner cartridges should be sent via interoffice mail to the Business Services office in Doorley. They will be recycled for credit through Iona's office supply vendors.

Book Donation/Recycling

Unwanted books that are cluttering up your office can be donated for distribution to schools and libraries around the world. Books must be in good condition--not damaged, missing pages, or extensively marked up. Take them to the Ryan Library Help Desk, Attn: Diana Kiel. Books that are in very poor condition and unusable by others can be placed in the blue recycling bins with mixed paper.
