In accordance with the mission of Iona College and the Hagan School of Business, the mission of the Accounting Department is to make Iona College the school of choice for students seeking an accounting education as preparation for rewarding careers in accounting and business.

The Department has identified the following as necessary to achieve its mission:

• Excellence in Teaching with continuing emphasis on effective class preparation and presentation.


• Excellence in Scholarship based on full-time and adjunct faculty engagement in scholarly research, publications and presentations and/or professional practice and continuing education.


• Excellence in Curriculum by maintaining a course of study current in accounting theory and practice
  with additional emphasis on student competencies in communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving,
  and interpersonal and ethical reasoning skills.


• Service to Students and Community by providing tutors for the Rudin Center, sponsoring the Taxpayer Assistance Program, and through faculty contributions as student advisors and mentors.
  
• Relationships with External Partners such as the firms and companies who hire our students as interns and graduates.
