The dynamics of competition and the continued restructuring of government health care programs have altered the traditional delivery and payment system for health care in all segments of the US health care industry (hospitals, long-term care, physician services, suppliers, insurers, and human resources). These ongoing changes will demand individuals with advanced skills to plan, manage and direct health care organizations in this environment.
In support of the Iona College Hagan School of Business mission, the Health Care Management program is committed to continuous improvement in serving the needs of its stakeholders through teaching excellence, scholarship and service.
For students, the goal is to provide a high quality and innovative graduate health care management education for a diverse community of students in preparation for leadership positions in the healthcare industry. The Program produces health services managers and future leaders who understand the health care delivery system and its social responsibilities, work productively in a high-technology and culturally diverse society, demonstrate awareness of the global character of business and subscribe to high ethical standards. The Program's Mission is to improve the delivery of health services and ultimately the health status of the populations served by its graduates as professional health services managers.
For faculty, the Program fosters a collegial environment that promotes and nurtures teaching and research excellence. Teaching and intellectual contributions are viewed as complementary activities. Faculty pursue instructional and applied contributions as well as basic scholarship.
For alumni, the Program strives to build an on-going partnership with its graduates through opportunities for alumni feedback, offering life-long learning opportunities, and special events.
For the community, the goal is to use the resources of the Program and the Hagan School of Business to fulfill our commitment to community service through student internships, residencies and practicums in local organizations, local and regionally oriented faculty research and services, and lectures and special activities which are open to the public.
