The Marketing and International Business Department houses two undergraduate majors (Marketing and International Business) and the MBA concentration in Marketing. We also contribute to the undergraduate minor in Sports and Entertainment Business, as well as graduate certificates in International Business, E-Commerce, and Sports and Entertainment Management.
Marketing encompasses all the steps in directing the flow of need- satisfying products and services to consumers. It includes market research, product development, pricing, packaging, distribution, and promotion, in domestic and international markets. This versatile major prepares students for a variety of career paths to suit individual interests and skills. We offer courses which represent the current state of the art - from the basics (Consumer Behavior, Marketing Communications, etc.), to special topics (Sports Marketing, Global Internet Marketing, Green Marketing).
As technologies and communication patterns bring together people from distant lands and cultures, doing business "as usual" will not work. More and more firms now view the world as their marketplace. The interdisciplinary major in International Business is designed to provide students with the global perspective, knowledge, and leadership skills that businesses, governments and other organizations are seeking.
Want to jump-start your career?
Marketing students enhance their preparation for careers through involvement with the Marketing Club and participation in Marketing internships. Seniors can earn course credit by working at an approved site under the direct supervision of a designated faculty member and business executive, applying the knowledge and skills they have gained from marketing courses to actual marketing problems and situations.
