Summer Program in Todi, Italy

Bell TowerIona's Todi program offers five weeks of study in Todi, a picturesque town in the region of Umbria, Italy. A select group of students from both Iona and other institutions study Italian language, offered at elementary through advanced levels, as well as Italian culture and literature. Students take courses in Italian grammar, conversation, and composition with the native Italian language instructors at La Lingua la Vita Language Center, and culture or literature courses with a faculty member from Iona College, who travels to Todi with the students and directs the program.

With the permission of the appropriate advisor and department chair, courses can be taken for core, elective, or major credit.

Students can live in apartments or with Italian families, selected by La Lingua la Vita Language Center, with half or full board.

The central location of Todi, which is only one hour by train from Florence and 90 minutes from Rome, allows students ample opportunity to travel to the cultural and recreational centers of Italy. Students can choose to take advantage of the guided tours offered by La Lingua La Vita of various cities and archaeological and historical sites in Umbria, such as Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Perugia, Narni, Gubbio, Carsulae, Bagnoreggio, and Deruta.
