Students are required to meet individually with the staff counselor a minimum of three times during their first semester in the CAP program and as needed after that. CAP counseling services offer a wide spectrum of services, tailored to the particular needs of each student. Of primary importance is assisting students to make a smooth transition from high school to college.
CAP counseling services are confidential, and are student driven. The counselor provides personal counseling and also assists students with career decisions, facilitates applications for internships and job development.
CAP counseling services begins during the summer session. Its goal is to assist students to achieve their academic potential, by providing workshops in time management, test preparation, decision making, self advocacy and self awareness and stress management. The CAP counselor also provides Coaching to students with Attention Deficit Disorder.
Although students are required to meet with the counselor at least three times, the counselor is available to meet with them as often as needed.
The mission of the Samuel Rudin Academic Resource Center is to provide students at Iona College with a wide array of support services to enable them to become independent self-learners..
