IV. SAC Election

Functions of positions were briefly discussed. More information about SAC and the Constitution can be found at http://www.iona.edu/admin/SAC/constitution.cfm

V. Constitutional Reform

  • Outreach efforts were important to SAC members and from the feedback received from some constituents on campus; it was appreciated by those working in departments during evening hours.
  • The SAC committee is where staff and administrators can bring their concerns and questions and have the attention of the proper committees within the college governance structure review and vote on our recommendations.
  • Outreach efforts for the fall will focus on SAC members taking a specific department on campus (other than one’s own) to inform staff and administrators of campus news and changes. This was discussed as being the most logical way to approach communication on campus.
  • As a result of this year’s work, HR and Mission Integration will give out the SAC pamphlet to all new hires to introduce them to our committee.

VI. Open Meeting

  • Clarification was given on the matter of merit pay. There will be no merit pay or bonus awards this year for staff or administration.
  • All future meeting dates will be emailed to SAC members during the summer, along with the representatives to the standing committees. If any member wishes to be on a specific committee, please email your preference to Laurie Wenchell.
  • Ongoing and planned topics for discussion include:
    1. Short-term disability for administrators and staff.
    2. Graduation Feedback and future venues for graduation.

Meeting adjourned, 3:15 pm.

Submitted, M. Pace
