Approval of Minutes of May 11, 2004 SAC Meeting The minutes from the May 11, 2004 meeting were unanimously approved. II. Introduction of New Members and Secretary Laurie Wenchell welcomed all new and returning members to SAC. Since the last meeting in May, there have been a few changes in members, including new secretary. III. Committee Memberships In response to concerns expressed last year regarding committee activity and participation, information was shared regarding committee meetings and process. Any member of a committee can initiate a first meeting for his or her committee as stated in The Iona College Governance Document. Per the Document, ex-officio members can be contacted, for the purpose of calling a meeting, by any member of a specific committee who is willing to take a leadership role in ensuring that a meeting is called. The goal in reviewing committee information was to answer previously expressed concerns and to encourage active participation. A goal for SAC in the coming year is to develop a solid, consistent and operational representation on standing College wide committees. SAC committee members will receive a list of active committee members from the Faculty Senate and any currently arranged meeting dates for these committees. The first College Council Meeting will be held on September 16, 2004. The matter of committee objectives was discussed as is relates to the activities of the committee and expectations of the College Council. Communication is key and minutes should be produced by every committee other than Rank, Tenure & Awards. A brief description of what took place at the meeting along with the dates of future meetings is all that is needed. IV. New Business All dates for future SAC meetings were reviewed. Submitted, M.
