DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND PLANNING

Job Summary:

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for the collection of factual and verifiable data; the meaningful analysis of data; and dissemination within the community and externally. The Director provides data and research assistance and serves as a resource person for the Iona community in the development and implementation of assessment plans and tools and supports data-driven decision-making and problem-solving throughout the College.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Educational Research, Statistics, Social Science or related field is required, PhD is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of significant and relevant experience in higher education; preferably in institutional research areas with a broad knowledge of data collection, interpretation, database design, statistical analysis, and research design.
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative survey research.
  • Demonstrated research ability, report writing and computer skills, PeopleSoft a plus.
  • Commitment to accuracy, clarity, promptness, and reliability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex statistical analysis to a non-technical audience.
  • Effective and collaborative management skills.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools, including SPSS, SAS, SATA and related software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In working with all members of the Iona community, demonstrates an awareness and appreciation of the Mission of Iona College.
  • Supervises and manages office personnel.
  • Develops standards and definitions for college statistics.
  • Manages the creation of a "fact book" for essential statistical data.
  • Manages the process to design, collect, and disseminate key strategic indicators (dashboard) and related benchmarking data.
  • Designs, implements and manages research and assessment projects, both internal and external.
  • Compiles and distributes data and reports on topics including but not limited to; assessment, faculty productivity, instruction, enrollment, retention and graduation.
  • Presents detailed and complex data in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
  • Oversees the College’s role in various state, regional, and national data exchange systems.
  • Manages and coordinates the reporting of college data to external agencies and publications including IPEDS, US News, and college guides.
  • Assists in the management of academic program accreditation activities, and academic program reviews.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Other work and special projects assigned by the Provost.
