Mission Statement

The Registrar’s Office exists to serve the academic community and to assist others in understanding that community. To serve the College well, members of the Registrar’s Staff must strive to be sensitive to the needs of our public-Faculty, staff, students and the community at large.

The staff must acquire a complete understanding of College resources, policies and procedures.

The staff is to treat each individual with fairness, respect and courtesy, and to achieve dedication, leadership to serve our diverse community of learners and scholars, as set forth in the mission statement of Iona College.

The nature of our work is such that we learn much that can be of value in the continuing effort to make the College a better place. It is therefore the responsibility of each member of the staff to reflect on the impact of our daily operations and to make suggestions to enhance our service to the Iona community.

The responsibilities assigned to the Registrar’s Office require that vast amounts of information about individuals and programs be collected, stored and be readily processed and shared with internal and external agencies. Much of the information gathered is used to carry out the Duties of the Registrar’s Office, but most is also essential elsewhere in the College. As we continue to develop and refine systems and procedures, it is therefore necessary that we learn the needs of other offices and attempt to solve their problems as we solve our own. We must also work to assure that other members of the college community understand the nature and potential uses of the information available in the student information system.

The first charge to all of the Registrar’s staff is to understand the needs of our students’ they are our number one priority. Although we are committed to service all offices of the college, we believe that by placing the students’ interest first we are also serving the interest of Iona College.
