Hagan Summer Institute

The Third Annual Hagan Summer Institute

Earn up to six credits this summer.

The Hagan School of Business is sponsoring three programs this summer:

  • The World of Financial Markets and Institutes (June 2-13)
  • The World of Sports and Entertainment (June 16-27)
  • International Business and Economics (May27- June 28)

The Summer Institute is a unique blend of in-class, online, and experiential learning. Trips to world-class organizations that lead their industries.  Meet and speak with top executives in the field.

The World of Financial Markets and Institutions (June 2 - 13)
Earn six credits in two weeks. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Field trips will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In prior years the program has traveled to and met executives of the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ, the FED, the MERC, American Express, Morgan Stanley, Union State Bank, Merrill Lynch, and the United Nations.

This program has a supplementary fee.

The World of Sports and Entertainment (June 16 - 27)
Earn six credits in two weeks. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Field trips will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some of the locations the program may visit this year are Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theater, Yankee Stadium, and Shea Stadium.

MNG 380 Managing Sports Organizations, prerequisite BUS 220 or equivalent 
MKT 319 Sports Marketing, prerequisite BUS 240 or equivalent

This program has a supplementary fee.

International Business and Economics (May 27 - June 28)
Earn three - six credits in five weeks.  A series of eight lectures, featuring area experts will discuss the historical, political and economic issues affecting business in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India, China, the Far East, South America and North America.  The lectures series will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  On Friday, June 13 and 20, the program will visit major multi-national organizations to discuss with business and governmental leaders the major issues affecting commerce. 

The program culminates with the third annual International Symposium, which will be held at Iona College on June 28.  Students will have the opportunity to submit a paper for possible presentation at the Symposium and publication in the proceedings.
