Lucretia Stanco Mann ’76, ’78MBA

While at Iona, Edward T. Mann and Lucretia Stanco Mann both distinguished themselves as outstanding and active students. Ed was elected to the Academic Senate and Student Council, was the treasurer of the Social Bureau, a member of the Accounting Honor Society and Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society. Lucretia was a member of the College Singers, treasurer of the Accounting Honor Society, chapter president of Delta Mu Delta, and recipient of the Roth Memorial Award for Excellence in Business Administration and the New York State Society of CPAs Award for Excellence in Accounting Studies.

Both are CPAs and pursued careers in public accounting with the firms of Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen, respectively. Ed’s career took him to the San Francisco-based conglomerate Transamerica Corporation, where he served with distinction in the transportation leasing, consumer finance and commercial lending businesses for 23 years. He retired at the end of 2002 as CEO and chairman of the board of Transamerica Leasing. Lucretia’s career path led her to Mercy College, where she is a professor of accounting and chairperson of the graduate and undergraduate accounting programs. She has received the Sister Gratia Maher Excellence in Teaching Award, the Phi Sigma Honor Society Teaching Award, and a Master of Pedagogy degree, honoris causa.

Edward, Lucretia and their son, Matthew, attend Iona basketball games, lectures, ceremonies and alumni events. They have supported both the Vision into Reality and Visions of Excellence campaigns, and Goal Club. Additionally, they are active volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.

Both Edward and Lucretia believe that the excellent education they received at Iona prepared them for professional success and lives dedicated to serving others and consider the Iona community family.
