Blackboard - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: One of my students said he/she turned in an assignment on Blackboard. Where is it?

Students are able to submit files on Blackboard in two locations: the Digital Dropbox and the Assignment Manager.

The Digital Dropbox

Students may submit files to the Digital Dropbox at any time. The instructor does not need to set up the dropbox for students to begin submitting files. The dropbox is organized in date order, with the "newest" files on top.

To check your Digital Dropbox, click on Control Panel.

Click on Digital Dropbox.

You will see all files that have been submitted to the Digital Dropbox. Click on the name of a file to open it.

The Assignment Manager

Students may also submit files through Assignments set up by the instructor in a content area of a Blackboard course. The instructor must go to the Gradebook to view submitted Assignments. In the assignment column, you will see a red exclamation point for each submitted assignment. Click on a red exclamation mark to view the assignment.

NOTE: There is a bug in Blackboard which occurs when a student turns in a document that has the “#” sign in the title of the document (i.e. Assignment #1). While the document has successfully been uploaded, you will see an error when trying to retrieve the document. The student must rename the file and upload it again.
