Q: What does the option "Allow members to subscribe to threads" allow my students to do in the Discussion Board?

When members of a Discussion Board Forum subscribe to threads, they will receive an email notification alerting them when there is a new posting in a thread of discussion. The email does not contain the actual posting.

To allow students to subscribe to threads in a forum, check the box next to Allow members to subscribe to threads (either during the forum creation process or by clicking Modify next to an existing forum).

To subscribe to a thread, click Subscribe in the Thread Detail view:
