"The fighter was swift
and amazingly scientific."
Although the
reader has no way of understanding this reference to science at the moment,
after the story comes full circle, it can be interpreted as The Invisible
Man’s criticism of the brotherhood. The brotherhood is yet another
group of people that set the Invisible man running. The concept of
the Brotherhood contains the inherent flaw of dogmatic belief in an unadulterated
commitment to the scientific process. This statement also illuminates
the flaw of their rigidity and claims the possibility that the underdog
can win.
