Jesus Christ
The Invisible
Man alludes to Jesus Christ with his use of the language light and truth.
Jesus Christ stated, “I am the way, the truth, and the light.” The
Invisible Man becomes a Christ figure in the novel. In the epilogue
the Invisible Man states, “I must come out, I must emerge.” He is
planning to return to the world with the intention of illuminating those
who have remained blind and invisible for so long.
The Invisible Man also plays
the Christ figure in his descent. The Invisible Man descends into
darkness just as Christ descends to Earth as well as Hell after his death.
The epilogue points to the Invisible Man’s resurrection.
