Plato
The Invisible Man alludes to the Greek
philosopher Plato. Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” invokes the use
of light as truth. In this philosophical dialogue, Plato describes
a man freed from chains in a cave filled with shadows and darkness, who
struggles to the light and sees the reality of the world. Plato uses
this example figuratively to represent humanities inability to see the
truth. The Invisible Man also struggles out of darkness and shadows
into the light of truth.
