Gaels Sit Down for a Stand-Up Cause

On Wednesday, March 28th, the Iona College Men’s Basketball team participated in a wheelchair basketball game against the United Spinal Nets.

The student-athletes traded sneakers for wheels to compete against the talented wheelchair squad in what turned out to be an exciting match for all those in attendance.

The event, sponsored by the Delta Upsilon fraternity, was held in the Hynes Athletics Center in an effort to promote awareness of disability-related issues.

The United Spinal Association, a non-profit organization based in Jackson Heights, NY, was founded in 1946 by veterans to help enable people with spinal cord injuries to fulfill their potential as active members of their communities. For more information, please visit www.unitedspinal.org
