SOFTBALL - MIDNIGHT RUN

On Friday, December 3, the Iona College softball team joined with the organizers of Midnight Run, campus ministries and other Iona students to deliver blankets, food and clothing to the homeless in mid-town Manhattan. This is the sixth year the softball team has taken part in a Midnight Run.

The team met at the Campus Ministries house that evening to make soup, sandwiches and hot chocolate and sort clothing. They then piled everything into 3 vehicles and drove through mid-town, making several stops along Central Park and at area churches.

" It’s a wonderful opportunity for our kids engage with people living in a part of our culture we so often forget is there." said Head Coach Andrea Farquhar. "They come back to Iona with fresh perspectives. The conversations they have with some of the men and women we meet really bring home to them what is important."
