On Wednesday, November 17, 2004, the Iona College Athletics
Department presented 21 food baskets for local families in need. Each team
was responsible for providing for one family and the Football team accommodated
for three families.
The baskets, all of which incorporated the Thanksgiving
theme, included items such as pie, stuffing, canned vegetables, and even
Turkeys. In addition, many Student-Athletes attended the Thanksgiving
Banquet held in Spellman Hall and enjoyed a hearty Thanksgiving meal. A
proceed
of each meal purchased benefited Hope Family Services, an organization
that assists in meeting the needs of underprivileged families
This service
project, which was organized in conjunction with Iona’s Week of the
Peace Maker, proved to be a remarkable accomplishment for all involved.
