Faculty and Staff Giving - The Annual Fund

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I support Iona College?  Giving is a personal decision and each person who gives to Iona College has their own answer to that question. Please visit the employee giving website at www.iona.edu/employeegiving to read the giving statements of some of our current employee donors. Your gift reflects a sincere belief in the work being done here at Iona and your participation is a vote of confidence in the College and its future.

What is the Annual Fund? The Annual Fund supports the entire College and raises approximately $1.2 million dollars in unrestricted money each fiscal year between July 1 and June 30. Unrestricted gifts are not designated for a specific purpose and enable the College to use funds where the need is greatest; taking advantage of unexpected opportunities and funding other costs that are not fully covered by tuition.

How much should I give? You determine the size and designation of your gift according to your personal willingness to give and your financial capacity. Gifts may be spread out in installments or through payroll deductions, allowing donors to contribute larger gifts in small increments. No gift is too small. Giving society levels have been established to recognize alumni, parents, employees and friends who exhibit leadership through their contributions to Iona. We invite you to consider making a President’s Club level leadership gift of $1,000 since we depend upon the generosity of our leadership donors; however, it is your participation in the effort that matters. Please visit www.iona.edu/giving to learn of different giving societies.

How can I give? There are many easy ways to make a gift to Iona. The Annual Fund is an annual fund-raising initiative that begins July 1 and ends on June 30 each year. You can visit our web site at www.iona.edu/employeegiving or contact Leticia S. John, annual giving coordinator, at (914) 633-2004 or lsjohn@iona.edu for more information or specific opportunities like matching gifts, bequests, bonds, securities etc. The most common way employees contribute annually include:

Pay-roll deductions: One of the easiest ways to make a gift is by completing the payroll deduction pledge form. There are 26 pay periods for staff members and 12 for faculty members. Simply divide the amount of your gift by the remaining pay periods left in the current fiscal year to calculate your monthly contribution. Your gift will be evenly distributed after applicable taxes each pay period between July 1 and June 30 of the current fiscal year. Visit www.iona.edu/giving to download a payroll deduction form.

One-time gift: Of course, you may also make an outright gift or divide your gift into payments. Methods of payment may include cash, check or credit card. Gifts, in any and all amounts, are gratefully accepted. You can make your gift online by visiting www.iona.edu/giving or by sending a check payable to Iona College, inter-office to the Joyce Advancement House or by mail to 715 North Avenue, Joyce Advancement House, New Rochelle, NY. 10801

Matching Gift: If you have a spouse who works for a matching gift company, the value of your gift can be enhanced if you support the College together. Visit www.matchinggift.com/iona to find out which companies participate.

Who will know about my gift? Contributing to the Annual Fund is your choice. You will receive an acknowledgement letter and receipt for your gift, but the exact amount of your gift will remain confidential to others. If you wish to keep your gift entirely anonymous, you may indicate this with your gift. Employees who make a gift to the Annual Fund will be invited to participate in special raffle drawings and attend a Thank You reception during the academic year.
