Iona College Awarded Prestigious Challenge Grant

Iona College received a $550,000 grant from the prestigious Kresge Foundation at the close of the Visions of Excellence (VOE) capital campaign for Ryan Library.

The Kresge Foundation awarded Iona College a challenge grant to complete existing fundraising efforts for Ryan Library. Towards the end of the campaign in 2009, the College was tasked with raising an additional $840,314 in order to receive the grant money. With the help of loyal support from our generous benefactors, Iona College secured the Kresge Foundation's grant.

The Kresge Foundation's work is concentrated in the areas of health, education, environment, arts and culture, human services, and community development. The Kresge grant-making program is intended to support the capital campaigns of non-profit organizations engaged in "construction of new facilities, acquisition or renovation of existing facilities, the purchase of real property, or the purchase of major integrated equipment systems." Iona finds itself in auspicious company. Dartmouth College, Temple University, New York University (NYU), the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and Columbia University Teachers' College are all recent recipients of challenge grants from the Kresge Foundation.
