About the Series

The Presidential Leadership Series at Iona College was launched in 2002 through the generosity of Maryanne C. and Richard J. Franchella ’82. The Series provides a forum for speakers of considerable renown to discuss a topic in their area of expertise. To quote Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Warren Rosenberg, PhD, “By its Mission Statement, Iona College is committed to both developing leaders and promoting lifelong learning. The Presidential Leadership Series is just one way that we provide Iona's alumni [and students] with a continuing exposure to, and instruction from, leaders in today's society."

Steve Forbes ’95H, president and CEO of Forbes, Inc. and editor-in-chief of Forbes, was the series’ inaugural speaker. Subsequent guests have included former New York State Governor Mario Cuomo ’84H and US Senator from New Jersey and famed basketball player Bill Bradley.

The event also serves as a way to recognize the generosity of members of The President’s Club. A private reception, following the lecture, is held in their honor. President’s Club members contribute a minimum of $1,000 to the College’s Annual Fund. Comprised of loyal trustees, alumni, faculty/staff/administrators, parents and friends, this leadership group continues to grow in size and level of support.
