Chairman of one of New York 's most successful lending institutions. President of America 's largest broadcast television network. Supreme Court Justices in three states. Former President of one of the world's largest cosmetic companies. Retired Chairman of a "big six" accounting firm. Thousands of teachers, clergy members, healthcare professionals, social service workers, teachers and entrepreneurs. These are just a few of the respected alumni of the College who share a common bond – they could not have attended Iona without a scholarship.
Reaffirming the extraordinary value of an Iona College education, the Trustees of the College have identified endowment growth as one of the most critical needs of the institution. By increasing the size of Iona ’s endowment, the Trustees are convinced that they will secure Iona ’s long-term success, offering a distinctive, value-based education to generations of future Ionians.
Clearly, scholarship funds pay lasting dividends.
The donors to a named scholarship work with the College to develop a set of criteria for selecting each named scholar. For instance, the donors might wish to target the fund's annual award to students within a particular area of study or sport. Additionally, the donors would have the benefit of focusing their philanthropy with a preference for students from a particular region. They could also request that the annual award be given to students who are in special need of financial assistance.
