Two awards -- $3000 each
$3,000 will be awarded to each faculty member whose project's primary purpose is the integration of computer technology in teaching. A maximum of two awards will be given. Those interested are asked to submit a formal proposal outlining how they will accomplish this goal. Information Technology will seek proposals for the awards and make recommendations to the deans for approval.
Eligibility:
- This application is open to all full-time teaching faculty members at Iona College. Adjunct and non-teaching faculty members are not eligible.
- All applicants must be prepared to submit an interim report on their project by October 31, 2012.
- All applicants must be prepared to submit a final report on their project by March 31, 2013.
Criteria:
The criteria for the evaluation of the proposals are listed below. These criteria reflect the belief that technology can promote more effective teaching and learning by helping Iona College faculty and students make major curricular changes to address instructional challenges.
- Overall expectation that the proposed project will increase the quality of teaching and learning at Iona College. The projects can range from revisions to a curriculum so that it includes technology outcomes/ components, to projects that engage multimedia technologies in teaching, learning, research and creative production. CELTIC will provide faculty members with access to multimedia development hardware and software, and assistance and training by the staff.
- Applications should reflect Iona's proposed strategic vision of inspired students preparing for full lives and productive careers in a technology-rich and collaborative learning environment. Winning proposals will show intellectual curiosity, passion for learning and teaching, and innovativeness in connecting curriculum to practical experiences.
- Potential of the project to add to the faculty member's technology skills. Some faculty members may be required to attend learning sessions given by the CELTIC staff.
- Potential of the project to have a broad and continuing impact on faculty and/or students and the ability of the project to be generalized to the Iona College community and to other universities.
- Preference will be given to collaborative projects between more than one faculty member and expanding over more than one class.
- A final report must be submitted to document that the goals established in the proposal have been met. This report will be published on the Iona College CELTIC web site.
Recipients will be honored at a Faculty Teaching Scholar Reception where they will be asked to briefly present their project results. An announcement of the award with the recipient's photo will be submitted to
Inside Iona.
