Web Support

The Web Support Team provides web design, development, training, and support services to faculty and web updaters of the College's website.

Web updaters who would like assistance with their web pages including interactive forms should contact us via the Online Request Form.



Supported Software :

The Web Support Team supports and uses teh following software:

Macromedia Dreamweaver- http://www.macromedia.com

Macromedia ColdFusion- http://www.macromedia.com

Blackboard 6- http://www.blackboard.com

To purchase a Macromedia Dreamweaver license, please contact Kelly Burke, PC Acquisitions @ 633-2651. For installation of Dreamweaver, contact the support team using the Online Request Form.


 

Web Page Update Procedure:

Please follow the recommended steps when posting Iona College web pages:

  1. Using Dreamweaver's FTP functionality, connect to the Iona web site, download (GET) the pages that you will work on from the web server to your local harddrive. You need to have a copy of your area's directory structure on your local drive.
    Exampe: If you are working on the Financial Services pages, your directory structure might be as follows: c:\ionaweb\admin\finance\. Please see Dreamweaver Site Setup for detailed information.
  2. Add, delete or edit pages using Dreamweaver in the local directory.
  3. Check that all links to dependent files such as images or other pages work in your local environment using both Netscape and Internet Explorer.
  4. Upload (PUT) your changed files using the Dreamweaver FTP client to the web server by selecting the file in the Site Files window of Dreamweaver and clicking on PUT.
  5. Note: Any linked resources in the file such as images, have to be uploaded separately.
  6. Check your changes on the server using both Netscape and Internet Explorer.
