The library catalog contains records for books, e-books, videos, DVDs, and other items in the libraries' collections.

Basic Search

The Simple Search screen allows you to search by keyword, title, author, keyword, subject, and more.

Enter your search word or phrase in the search box, then select the type of search you wish to do in the adjacent "Search in:" menu. Click Search.

Note: With the Keyword search you must "connect" your terms. Ex: artificial and intelilgence OR "artificial intelligence"

Use the examples located below the Basic Search box for more tips.

Guided Search

Enter the term(s) you want to find in the Search For box.

  1. Select all of these, any of these or as a phrase from the first drop-down list.
    • all of these - you want all the terms you've entered
    • any of these - when searching for synonyms
    • as a phrase - you want the terms to appear in the exact order that you have typed them
  2. Select the fields in which you want your search terms to appear from the drop-down list. Field choices include "Keyword Anywhere," "Title," "Subject," "Author Name," "ISBN," "Publisher Name," etc.
  3. To add more terms to your search, select either AND, OR, NOT with the next set. You may then type additional terms in the Search For box.
  4. Click the Search button to begin your search.
Finding Reserve Items
  1. Select the Course Reserve tab.
  2. Select one item from the following drop-down box:
    • Instructor
    • Department
    • Course
  3. Click the search button to find items for your class.
Limiting Your Search

You can limit Keyword, Title and Journal Title searches by:

  • Date
  • Item type
  • Location
  • Language

Note: You cannot apply limits to Author, Subject heading, Call Number or other browse searches.
Note: Limits will remain in effect for all subsequent searches until the Remove Limits button is selected.

Quick Limits - Dropdown menu only on the Basic Search page. Choose from popular limits before you search.
More Limits - Click the Limits button (pencil and eraser graphic) on the Basic or Advanced Search screen.
Refine Results - From a list of search result, click the Post Limits button to find fewer results.

My Research

This feature allows you to save records from your online library catalog search results. You are now able to easily create a bibliography of the items as well as allow saving the records for later viewing, editing and printing.

To save records to My Research:

From the Search Results/Titles List screen,

  1. Select the checkboxes next to all records you want to save to My Research, on the first search page containing records you wish to save.
  2. Click the Save To My Research button in the Record Options box at the bottom of the screen.

You will receive a # records have been added to My Research, and will remain on your current results page.

  • Repeat this process on each page containing records you wish to save to My Research.
  • When finished, you can view your research by selecting the My Research tab, or by clicking the My Research button on the My Account page.

To delete a record from My Research:

  1. Select the check box (in the Delete? column) next to the record.
  2. Click the Delete Selected Titles button.

To clear the contents of My Research:

  1. Click the Clear My Research button.

This deletes all records from your Research and results in a screen indicating that your Research is empty.

To email the contents of My Research:

  1. From the My Research screen, enter your email address into the Enter your email address box and click the Email button.

To save or print the contents of My Research:

  1. Select the desired format from the Select Download Format drop-down box.
  2. Click the Format for Print/Save button. This reformats the contents of your research in your browser.
  3. Use your browser's print/save options to print and/or save the reformatted information.
My Account

My Account displays information about your library record and activity including your local mailing address, titles you have checked out, as well as any fines and fees you may have incurred.

  • Click My Account link at the top or bottom of any screen.
  • Enter your Iona barcode (back of ID card) or Student ID (front of ID card) & your last name.
  • Click Login.

Account Information - Contains your name and local mailing address.

Checked Out - Lists all the titles you have charged out with due dates. You may renew titles by marking items under

Renew? Choose which books to new and click the Renew Items button.

Fines and Fees - Displays any outstanding charges you have acquired, with the total amount due listed at the top. Also included is the date the charge was assessed or partially paid, a title (if applicable), the type of charge or payment (Fee/Posting Type), payments made (Posting), and the balance due.

Renew Books Online
  1. Click My Account link at the top or bottom of any screen.
  2. Enter your Iona barcode (back of ID card) or Student ID (front of ID card) & your last name.
  3. Check the items you wish to renew and click Renew Items.

Print - Save - Email

To Print/Save:

  • From the list of search results, select the checkbox next to the title. At the bottom of the screen, click the
  • Format for Print/Save button to save checked records BEFORE going to the next screen to view more titles.
  • A new web page will appear with the selected record(s). Use the print button of the web browser to print.

Email:

  • From the list of search result, select the checkbox next to the title. At the bottom of the screen, enter your email address (do this BEFORE going to the next screen to view more titles).
  • Click on the Email button.
