ERIC: Educational Resources Information Center
Already know an ERIC number
you want? Once in the ERIC database, scroll down to "ERIC Number" and
type ED or EJ followed by the six digit number (no spaces). Click search.
The ERIC database contains two types of records, with an ED (ERIC Documents) or an EJ (ERIC Journals) number (example: ED346983). Both types of records will result from a search unless you limit your search. EJ articles If the full-text journal article is not included click the "Check for full text journal availability" link to see if Iona has access to the article's journal anywhere else in electronic OR print formats. ED documents are usually not journal articles but are conference proceedings, reports to state legislatures, teaching plans, research reports, etc. For the most part, recent ED documents are available full text, through two possible ways: 1) Most ED documents from 1993-present are full-text. Click the link which reads "Full Text from ERIC." 2) Most earlier ED documents can be found in the Arrigoni Library on microfiche, in numerical order by their six digit ED number. But the ERIC microfiche collection for the years 1970 (appx.) - 1996 was shared with the College of New Rochelle. From 1997 to 2003, Iona has the entire microfiche collection. After 2003 only the electronic version is available. How do I know if an older ERIC document is on microfiche is at Iona? If you need an ED document at CNR, you can submit a Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery request using the online form; or by filling out a card at the Reference Desk.
