Public health workers can learn more about environmental pollutants in their communities. Many of these chemicals have detailed chemical profiles that indicate their health hazards such as they cause cancer, birth defects, or contribute to the deterioration of the immune system. Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)

Scientific research clearly shows that personal health behaviors play a major role in premature morbidity and mortality. As a result, surveys were developed and conducted to monitor state-level prevalence of the major behavioral risks among adults associated with premature morbidity and mortality. CDC developed standard core questionnaire for states to use to provide data that could be compared across states.

Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS)

Survey is conducted to provide nationally representative estimates of health care use, expenditures, sources of payments, and insurance coverage for the U.S. non-institutionalized population. The Household Component collects medical expenditure data on the person, household, event, jobs and condition levels.
