Overview

The Reference Room houses our Reference Collection; 15 computers; study carrels; a comfortable reading area; current periodicals; and a Leisure Reading Collection. A laser printer, photocopiers, and a change machine are also available.

The Reference Collection includes, but is not limited to, encyclopedias, dictionaries, guides and handbooks, directories, bibliographies, and atlases. The purpose of the reference collection is to support our curriculum and to supply specific information. Reference books may not be taken from the Reference Room without special permission from the Reference Librarian.

Librarians are available to assist patrons individually in locating materials to meet research needs, and to aid in the use of ORION, our numerous electronic databases, and the Internet. We are happy to get you started and to suggest types of books or other library materials which will be helpful for your research. For assistance, stop by the Reference Desk in Ryan Library. The Reference Desk is staffed with a Librarian during most library hours.

Librarians may also be contacted by telephone at (914) 637-7716 (Reference Desk) or (914) 633-2348 (Head Reference Librarian) or at reference@iona.edu.
