Since the college's 1979 commencement ceremonies, Iona has presented annually the Hugh McCabe Award for Social Justice to an employee who embodies an exemplary commitment to social justice. Awardees have demonstrated through their work and contributions their exceptional dedication to social justice in building a more just and peaceful world.
All nomination letters must be written and submitted (hard copy, no more than 500 words), by March 3 to Mr. Carl Procario-Foley, director of Campus Ministries and chairperson of the McCabe award committee. No letters received after March 3 will be accepted.
The award is open to current full-time employees of the college with the exception of granting the award posthumously if the committee deems it appropriate.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to social justice in their teaching, scholarly, administrative or service work at Iona College.
