Blessing and Lighting of the Nativity Creche and Christmas Tree Recap
Iona celebrated the season a little early this year with our Blessing of the Creche and lighting of the LaPenta Christmas Tree last night. The event began at the Nativity scene outside of McSpedon Hall, followed by Christmas carol singing on the walk to The Robert V. LaPenta Student Union. Blessings were given by Father Frank and Brother Liguori had the honor of lighting the tree. Finally, Santa made his grand entrance and directed the crowd to the Mulcahy Gymnasium for the Home for the Holiday's event.

Brother Liguori to Receive NASPA President's Award
Based on his impressive work and contributions, President James A. Liguori, CFC, has been selected as the Region II regional recipient of the National Association of Student Personnel Administration (NASPA) President's Award.

This award is a special recognition given to a college or university president who has, over a sustained period of time, advanced the quality of student life on campus by supporting student affairs staff and programs. Nominees had to show evidence of direct involvement in enhancing the quality of student life on campus, active attempts to involve students and student life staff in governing the institution, and demonstrable contributions to the profession, which have an impact beyond an individual campus.

Region II will announce recipients at its regional business meeting at the Annual NASPA Conference in Philadelphia, PA on March 14, 2011. Awards will be presented at the Annual Region II Awards Ceremony at the Regional Conference in Baltimore, MD on June 6, 2011. Congratulations to Br. Liguori!

Student Clubs and various departments on campus decorated and filled laundry baskets for the cause. This year Ryan Library won best decorated basket!
