"Learning in Retirement" to Host Open
House
Courses, Lectures, Trips and Events for Active Retirees Offered at Iona
College
New Rochelle, NY, January 17, 2001 - LIRIC, an Elderhostel Institute
of Learning at Iona College, will showcase its spring program of courses
and events at an Open House and reception to be held on Sunday, February
11 at 2 pm in Spellman Hall on the Iona campus, 715 North Avenue, New
Rochelle.
Interested prospective members are invited to become acquainted with
daytime courses and study groups offered to men and women of retirement
years. This is a member-developed and member-directed program that includes
such diverse topics as "The Bible," "Famous Trails in
History," "The Lively Arts," "Great Decisions," "Jazz," "The
Symphonies of Beethoven and Brahms," "Making Sense of Science," as
well as a lecture series in which several Iona faculty members participate.
Field trips and visits to sites of cultural interest are integrated within
the LIRIC program.
