Iona Rocks!
Students, Faculty, Staff and Friends Compete in a Marathon Rockathon
to Raise Scholarship $$$
New Rochelle, NY, January 31, 2002 - What will dozens of students, faculty,
staff, alumni, parents and friends be doing for 26 hours straight at
Iona? For the first time ever, they will be "Rocking for Iona," as
well-wishers pledge dollars for each hour rocked by a "rocker" in
a rocking chair. All proceeds raised will be used for scholarships for
student leaders and new Iona students.
The "rocker" who raises the largest amount of money will win
a pair of round-trip tickets on JetBLUE Airways to any of the airline's
destinations. Second prize will be a $500 gift certificate at the Iona
College Bookstore. All "rockers" will receive a T-shirt and
certificate thanking them for their contribution. Local merchants such
as Stop and Shop, Sam Goody's, The Gap, local movie theaters and restaurants
have donated prizes, as well. During the event, Dr. Randi Case-Sauter
of Soundshore Chiropractic Associates in New Rochelle, will offer therapeutic
exercise to the "rockers."
If you are able to loan a rocking chair for this worthwhile event or
would like to "rock," please call Bonnie Sirower, Advancement,
at (914) 633-2066 or e-mail bsirower@iona.edu or visit Iona's web site
