Iona College Celebrates Founders' Week
April 11 - 18
New Rochelle, NY, April 10, 2002 - The College's values of justice,
peace, and service will echo throughout the campus from Thursday, April
11 through Thursday, April 18 in celebration of Blessed Edmund Rice and
the founders of Iona College.
A Hospitality Dinner will launch the week on Thursday, April 11 at 5:30
pm at Montgomery House (34 Montgomery Place, New Rochelle) and a Mass
honoring the Christian Brothers will take place Sunday, April 14 at 7:00
pm in the Arrigoni Center on Mayflower Avenue.
On Monday, April 15 at 1:00 pm a panel of students, faculty and employees
from many diverse backgrounds will discuss "Was Iona Founded for
Me?" in the Faculty Reception Room. Keeva Young-Wright, coordinator
of Special Events, will facilitate the discussion. A complimentary lunch
will be offered. RSVP to Felicia Colangelo at 633-2270.
The Founders' Week Committee will host a dinner discussion, "Prizing
it More than Silver or Gold: Service to the Poor and the Founders' Vision," Monday,
April 15 at 5:00 pm in the Faculty Reception Room. Carl Procario-Foley,
director of Campus Ministries, will moderate the discussion, which will
include reflections from Brothers Robert Fitzsimmons, John Manyeh, J.
Kevin Devlin, and Charles Miller, exploring the connections between the
Iona mission and the Christian Brothers' global outreach to the poor.

Founders' Week concludes with the annual carnival Thursday, April 18,
from noon - 4:00 pm in the Spellman Lot on campus. Festivities include
a barbeque, laser tag, gladiator joust, dunk tank, caricaturist, palm
reader, vendors and live entertainment by Bruce Jaques from 1:00 - 3:00
pm.
Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College
