Media Alert, Invitation to Cover: "The Soul
of the People: Commemorating the Shoah" Opens at Iona College's
Arts Center Gallery
New Rochelle, NY, February 4, 2002 - Renowned artist Alice Lok Cahana
will open an exhibit of her work at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
Cahana, a Holocaust survivor uses her art and poetry to build "Bridges
of Understanding," and to educate the public about atrocities that
can occur because of intolerance.
Iona College is a liberal arts college in the tradition of Catholic
higher education. The College established an endowed Professorship in
Jewish-Catholic Studies in 1999; the Professorship is hosting "The
Soul of the People: Commemorating the Shoah." Together with the
College's Council on the Arts and Peace and Justice Studies and The Frances
and Benjamin Benenson Foundation, this art exhibit and supporting programs
emphasize Iona's commitment to peace, justice and interreligious dialogue.
When: Sunday, February 24 2-5 pm.
Where: Iona College Arts Center North Avenue, New Rochelle.
The art exhibit is free and open to the public.
