Religious Leaders to Explore Ethical Views of Catholics
and Jews In “Shared Roots, Different Paths” Presentation
at Iona College Nov. 8
New Rochelle, NY, October 30, 2001 - Rabbi Gordon Tucker and Dr. Barbara
Hilkert Andolsen will present “Life and Death: How Catholics and
Jews make their Ethical Decisions” on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 8 pm
at the Arrigoni Center on the main campus of the college, located at
715 North Ave. in New Rochelle. The presentation, which is free and open
to the public, is part of the ongoing “Shared Roots, Divergent
Paths” lecture series established by Iona College and the American
Jewish Committee.
Rabbi Tucker is currently affiliated with Temple Israel Center in White
Plains. He is a former Dean of the Rabbinical school at The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America. Dr. Andolsen is the Helen Bennett McMurray Professor
of Social Ethics, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, at Monmouth
University and a former visiting lecturer at Harvard Divinity School.
The two speakers will explore a variety of topics as they examine questions
of textural resources and the guiding principles for ethics in each tradition.
Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College
