Iona College and the American Jewish Committee Present
Public Screening and Discussion of Internationally Acclaimed Documentary
on Oct. 23
New Rochelle, NY, Oct. 3, 2002 - Iona College and the American Jewish
Committee will present a public screening and discussion of I am Joseph
Your Brother on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 pm in Spellman Hall on Iona's
main campus, located at 715 North Ave. in New Rochelle. Rabbi Michael
Z. Cahana, senior rabbi of Temple Israel in New Rochelle, and Dr. Rosann
Catalano, Roman Catholic scholar of The Institute for Christian and Jewish
Studies in Baltimore, will lead a dialogue after the film. This event,
part of the Iona College Shared Roots Series, is free and open to the
public.
"I am Joseph Your Brother provides a rigorous analysis of the long
and complex relationship between the Catholic Church and Judaism," according
to Iona College Brother John G. Driscoll Professor of Jewish-Catholic
Studies, Elena Procario-Foley, PhD Beginning with Pope John Paul's
visit to Jerusalem in 2000, the documentary presents the formative period
of this relationship and then suggests new possibilities for the future
with commentary by the top international scholars active in Jewish-Catholic
dialogue today. KTAV Publications in Jerusalem released I am Joseph Your
Brother in 2001 with the cooperation of the United States Bishops Conference.
Founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Iona College
