Iona College Becomes First in Westchester County
to Offer Non-Profit Public Relations Certificate Program
New Rochelle, NY, November 18, 2002 - Iona College announced today
that it will offer a new certificate program in non-profit public relations
(PR), the first of its kind in Westchester County. Students can complete
the program in six months by attending classes on one night a week.
"This program is an alternative credential for professionals who
want to change careers or enhance their skills to be more competitive
and valuable in today's tough job market," said Dr. Alexander Eodice,
dean of the School of Arts and Science.
The non-credit certificate program consists of five courses, taken sequentially
and designed to help students master the fundamentals of non-profit public
relations, and include Non-Profit PR; Media Relations, Strategies, and
Tactics for Non-Profit Professionals; Planning and Executing a Non-Profit
PR Campaign; Fundraising; and Training Methods for Non-Profit Professionals.
Students who register for the courses beginning in January will complete
the program in June by attending class once a week, a total of 15 hours
in the classroom per course. Certificate program recipients will have
access to Iona's Career Services Office to seek employment in the public
